UNICEF’s private sector partnerships play a key role in mobilizing the resources, expertise, and tech-nology necessary to achieve our mission of helping children everywhere survive and thrive. The UNICEF Private Fundraising & Partnerships (PFP) Corporate team, based in Geneva, works with UNICEF teams worldwide to optimize the corporate sector’s role in this mission, by building corporate partnerships that generate sustained value for partners and the realize the best possible results for children.

Under the general guidance of the Corporate Partnership Chief at JCU, this post will focus on pro-specting new corporate partnerships and growing existing partnerships that deliver to UNICEF’s stra-tegic objectives by leveraging financial and non-financial resources and optimises the reach and influ-ence of the corporate sector.

How can you make a difference?

This post is responsible for working in the Japanese Committee for UNICEF to manage high value partnerships, expanding their scope and duration to include new geographies and impact areas, while also working to secure new high value partnerships with Japan-headquartered corporations:

  • Proactively develop, maximize and monitor existing and multimillion dollar global alliances with corporations in Japan with specific reference to existing high value partnerships.
  • Proactively identify, develop, and secure new corporate partnerships for UNICEF from Japanese HQed companies, focusing on partnerships with the capacity to deliver funds at a multi-million US$ level. This may include corporate foundation grants, cause-marketing, customer fundraising, sponsorship of campaigns, and/or workplace giving.
  • Working with PFP colleagues, UNICEF programme and communication colleagues to identify world-leading propositions for prospects to be able to inform partnership discussions and help identify key programme ideas for partnership. Support the JCU corporate team in developing proposals and liaise with concerned stakeholders (country offices, regional teams, PD) to get their inputs.
  • Working with the Japanese Committee for UNICEF to help secure corporate partners for humani-tarian emergencies.
  • In line with the Global New Business Strategy, working with the Japanese Committee for UNICEF and other UNICEF colleagues to develop creative and high-profile partnership models that will be-come market-leading partnerships for Japanese corporations.
  • Liaising with UNICEF due diligence, legal, programme, and communications teams to ensure screening, proposal reviews and contracting is undertaken effectively.
  • DELIVERABLES:

  • Development of proposals & cultivation of key influencers to secure new partnership funding.
  • Grow and renew existing corporate partnerships specifically Takeda through partner access to high quality UNICEF content, including communications materials and best in class programme re-porting.
  • Identify opportunities to promote the partnership at high visibility UN moments, multi-stakeholder platforms such as WEF, leading industry / B2B events, etc.
  • Efficient liaising and coordination with PFP and JCU to ensure successful management of existing partnerships and secure new ones in sync with UNICEF strategy and goals.
  • To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have….

  • Minimum five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in roles that in-volve management of large programme based corporate/foundation diverse partnerships and an understanding of the corporate sector functioning in Japan.
  • Advanced university degree in Business Management, Communications, Marketing, Social Sciences, Fundraising or related field. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Proven experience of identifying, developing and securing a new business pipeline, including successfully securing multiple new corporate partnerships at a US$1m per year and above funding value.
  • Proven experience working with Japanese companies. Experience of having worked in a Japanese company is an asset.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English. Fluent verbal communication skills in Japanese.
  • Experience of working within corporate fundraising in an international organisation is an asset.

    Reporting to:

    The incumbent will report to Partnership Manager, Corporate Partnerships at PFP, Geneva. The incumbent will also work under the supervision of the Chief, Corporate Partnerships, JCU. The incumbent will work in close coordination with Partnership Development team and New Business Development team at PFP, Geneva. The incumbent will also collaborate and consult with colleagues from the Japanese Committee for UNICEF, other National Committees, other PFP and UNICEF HQ units and country office colleagues, as appropriate.

    Work Place:

    The post will be based in Japanese Committee for UNICEF in Tokyo, Japan.
